TEACHING AIDS
Supply By Teachers Condemned
PA WELLINGTON, May 10. The practice of teachers having to supply teaching aids and materials for infant work out of their own pockets was roundly condemned by delegates to the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute today. A motion carried by the conference asked the Education Department to prepare immediately and issue to schools basic materials required for the new “Janet and John” series of infant readers. The materials required are cards and pictures with frames and holders, prereading primers and work books. It was stated by a delegate that the materials required were at present being printed by a private firm with the intention of selling them to teachers.
