APPEAL TO INDONESIANS
“ Stand Aloof From Anarchy ” NZPA—Reuter—Copyright JAKARTA, May 8. The Indonesian Prime Minister, Dr Mohammed Hatta, broadcasting to the nation today, appealed to the people to “ stand aloof from anarchy,” to maintain Indonesia’s international prestige. Although Dr Hatta did not refer to the new “ Republic of the South Moluccas,” high diplomatic circles here believe that his speech was a prelude to the announcement of decisive Government action to bring the reoublic into line. Urging the people to “ follow the rules,” Dr Hatta warned against a stale of confusion, which, if developed, would be interpreted by “ our enemies as an indication that we are not ripe for indeoendence.”
