The storm commenced on Friday "night last and continued without intermission till the following Monday. The Carrick and Dunstan ranges are thickly covered, and so also are the Nobbies and Cairnmuir. The surrounding country presents a very wintry-like appearance; a remarkable change from the pleasant aspect which met the view previous to the setting in of the storm.

The crisis of the “Grey fever” is now over and has left little mark on the district, our Lakes district correspondent states, beyond a temporary diminution of the population. Miners are fast flocking back again, and many a rueful countenance is seen amongst those who have come back with empty pockets and are glad to get a wages job. Most encouraging accounts come in from every part of the Wakatip. and it is evident from the escorts alone that the average earnings of the miners are very large—not exceeded or equalled on any field in the world
