OAMARU PROSPECTS
Emblazon Is Consistent Emblazon is among the most consistent runners in the Captain Sandy Handicap at Oamaru and he should be prominent all the way from the front mark. One of his best recent performances was in the Washdyke Handicap at Timaru in March, which he won easily from Direct Power and Doris Grattan after beginning slowly. A four-year-old gelding by Blaydon, from the Worthy Bond mare Display, he is a half-brother to Play Hall and Happy Choice. By Desmond's Pride Combateer, a fresh horse in the Introductory Handicap at Oamaru next Saturday, is a five-year-old by Desmond s Pride from Moerewa, the dam of Bellissima who is by Certissimus. Owned and trained by D. Teahen, Combateer has had three unplaced starts this season, the most recent of which was in the Lyndhurst Handicap at Methven last month, won by Fourth Brigade. He never looked likely. Dictation In Form As a result of his two good performances at the recent Forbury Park meeting Dictation will be in keen demand for the Stewards’ Handicap at Auckland. Well Placed Parawa Derby, who has been unplaced only five times in 16 starts this season, should add to his record at the Auckland meeting on Saturday. He looks well placed on the front mark in the Adams Memorial Handicap.
