AWAMOA PARK
Early Start Desirable When referring to the use to be made of the ground which had been made available to the North Otago Rugby Union at Awamoa Park, Mr J. Firman said at Monday night’s meeting of the union that an endeavour should be made to have the goal posts erected and the grounds marked out as soon as possible. Members expressed their willingness to assist, and the president was left to make the necessary arrangements. It was mentioned that primarily the application had been made on behalf of the South School, which did not have a Rugby ground available at the school. Mr Firman was in the chair and there were also present Messrs H. Cross, A. W. Marshall, F. V. Dennehy, G. Bell, R. L. Brown, R. Hunt and D. S. Loder. Tentative dates of September 9 and 16 were offered by the Waimate Rugby Union for a senior match at Waimate and a junior match at Oamaru. Members expressed the view that the dates offered appeared too far ahead when the representative programme had not yet been completed. The transfer of S. Blackie from Oriental, Wellington, to Athletic, was approved. The application for a football by the Otepopo School was granted. A report on the combined meeting at Enfield was given by Mr Firm'an and he added that the arrangement arrived at would prove satisfactory when the teams adjusted themselves.
