American Freighter On Fire

NZPA—Copyright Rec. 7 p.m. NEW YORK. May 8. The Coastguard reported today that the American freighter Josephy Lykes, of 8629 tons, with a cargo of cotton, was on fire 330 miles north-west of Bermuda. The vessel radioed that fire had broken out in her No. 3 hold, and that she was returning to Hampton Roads, Virginia. The Coastguard sent the cutter Humbolt to aid the vessel, which is on her way to Europe.
