France Will Seek American Aid For War In Indo-China

NZPA—Reuter —Copyright Rec. 7.30 p.m. PARIS, May 8. France is expected today to ask the United States Secretary of State, Mr Dean Acheson, for £178,000,000 aid for her war against Communist forces in IndoChina. It is expected that the French Foreign Minister, M. Robert Schuman, will make the request in bilateral talks with Mr Acheson preliminary to the Big Three Foreign Ministers’ London meeting, which is due to be held later this week. According to the highest French sources, M. Schuman intends to put the Indo-China aid appeal by bluntly saying that without substantial and prompt help France may have to end her efforts to hold the “ Western strategic line in Indo-China.”
