COAL PRICE INCREASED
New Rates Effective From This Week An increase of about one shilling a bag for coal came into effect in Duni edin yesterday. Mr D. R. w ilson, president of the Otago Coal Merchants Association, told the Daily Times • yesterday that most of the coal sold in the city came from Southland, and the Price Tribunal had advised that this ' coal would be increased by 16s 9a a ton, ex the mine. Wangaloa brown coal from the State mine at Kaitangata would be increased by 15s 3d a ton, he said. As the usual order for Dunedin households wa, half of Southland coal and half of •-Wangaloa coal, the increase in price C would work out at about one shilling a bag. Other price increases notl^ e “ by the Price Tribunal were 9s 9d a ton on Kaitangata coal, of /which only a small quantity was sold in Dunedin, and 20s a ton on West Coast coal.
