Liquor At Carisbrook
“The police are very concerned about liquor being brought on to the ground and will take every possible step to prevent it,” said the secretary, Mr E. S. Wilson, reporting to last , night’s meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union on an interview he had had with the police authorities concerning Carisbrook Ground arrangements for the two matches in which the British team will appear in DunedMr Wilson said that there. would be a large number of police in attendance, and the authorities desired the committee to take every possible step to prevent persons bringing liquor on the ground as in such a crowd bottles would constitute a distinct menace. The union’s gatemen would be instructed to stop persons carrying liquor from entering the ground, and the police would give them every assistance. There’ was a danger of serious injury from broken bottles or from spectators falling on them as they left the ground, Mr Wilsop added, and the police desired the union to put a stop to the practice. Mr Wilson’s report was approved, and the union agreed to offer the police every co-operation.
