Tapanui Beats Miller s Flat Special to the Daily Times TAPANUI, May 6. In the second of the series of Rugby matches played In ideal conditions in West Otago on Saturday, Tapanui defeated Miller's Flat at Tapanui by 5 points to nil. This is the first time that the Tapanui senior team has scored a victory over Miller’s Flat. Playing in the junior game at Miller’s Flat, Tapanui drew with the home team, the score being 6 all. Results:—Seniors: United 14, Waikaka nil; Tapanui 5, Miller’s Flat nil; Heriot 8, Hydro nil. Juniors: Roxburgh 38, United nil; Miller’s Flat 6, Tapanui 6. BASKETBALL Basketball games played on Saturday resulted as follows:—Heriot A 15, Lawrence 4; Waikoikoi 24, Heriot B 9; Tapanui 4, School 10. HOCKEY In the Tuapeka Hockey Association’s games the results were:—Miller’s Flat A 10, Teviot A 1: Teviot B 4, Miller's Flat B 3. GOLF Ideal conditions prevailed for the playing of the May Medal Handicap. A smaller number of players than usual took part Best scores returned were: W. P. Murphy 87—16—71, A. Smeaton 81—9— 72, G. Howat 98—24—74. In the women’s section, the B Grade button was won by Miss M. McDonald and the C Grade ‘button was won by Mrs J, Stevens from Miss M. Bathgate on a count-back. An Eclectic Match played during the week-end attracted a good field of players, the best cards returned being: F. Ranger 32, W. Grant and A. Smeaton 34.
