POLICE PRECAUTIONS
Western Gatherings In Bangkok
Rec. 11.15 p.m. BANGKOK. May 5. The police have officially advised through foreign diplomatic and consulate posts that members of Bangkok’s approximate 3000-strong Western foreign communities must notify the police 48 hours before holding cocktail parties and similar gatherings in future. The stated reason of the police is the uncovering of information that “ certain elements ” were planning grenade or similar violent assaults on foreign gatherings in Bangkok in order to spread a general feeling of insecurity and prejudice relations between the Siamese Government and foreign Powers. The 48 hours’ notification of social gatherings ensures that the Siamese police will provide special guards around the sites.
