Subsidy Or Art Union Requested A hint that the Reserves Department of the City Council and representatives of sports bodies had asked the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Bodkin, when they waited on him as a deputation recently, about both the possibility of r a subsidy to put the Caledonian Ground in order again, and the approval of an art union for this purpose, was given by the chairman, Mr W. R. Brinsley, at a meeting of the Dunedin War Memorial Committee yesterday. Mr Brinsley said during a discussion in open meeting, that the sports bodies and the City Council had met Mr Bodkin and asked him about an art union and a subsidy for the Caledonian Ground. Mr D. L. Wood, a member of the committee, said that Mr Bodkin could - be asked for an early decision on these subjects to enable the committee to report to a public meeting about a war memorial.
