Ewes Realise Higher Prices Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, Apl. 5. Prices were easier by 10s a head for the small yarding at yesterday's Waiareka sale. A medium yarding of store cattle, however, found a ready market at rates ruling at previous sales. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, and prices for these were firm, with wethers showing a rise of Is 6d to 2s a head on late rates. A ready sale was met with by a small yarding of store sheep, and lambs were firm, while ewes showed a rise in price of 2s to 3s a head. Quotations:— Fat Cattle—Heifers: Prime, £ll 5s to £l6 17s 6d; light, £8 to £lO. Cows: Prime, £ll 12s 6d to £l2 12s 6d; light. £6 17s 6d to £B. Vealers, £5 7s 6d. Store Cattle—Heifer calves, £3; steer calves. £3 17s; two-year-old heifers, £4 to £5 15s; three-year-old heifers, £6 to £B. Dairy Cows—Holstein heifer, calved. £25 10s; young Holstein cows. £ls to £2l; Jersey heifer, £9. Fat Sheep—Wethers: Heavy, 60s to 635; prime medium, 55s 9d to 57s 9d; medium. 47s 9d to 52s 3d; light, 40s 9d to 44s 7d. Aged wethers: Prime, 45s 9d; medium, 35s 3d to 43s 9d. Ewes: Prime heavy, 35s to 38s 3d; prime, 32s to 34s 3d; medium, 28s 6d to 31s 9d; light, 20s to 22s 3d. Lambs: Prime, 40s 6d; medium, 35s 9d to 36s 9d.
