WINTRY WEATHER

Holidays Restricted To Fireside? MARRIAGES GO ON Holidays this Easter it seems will be restricted to the fireside, if the weather continues as it was yesterday. A cold south-west wind was accompanied by heavy showers of rain and last night there were even a few flurries of snow. Similar conditions are forecast for today. Pessimists call this “typical Easter weather.” Whatever the weather has no concern for prospective brides and grooms, however, and this Easter promises to be equal to any other in the number of weddings. One taxi firm had six bridal cars at work last evening, and the same firm expects to have 10 cars in use on Saturday afternoon and the same number in use that night. _ , _ , Taxi firms themselves find Easter busy enough at any time without wintry weather to increase the number of clients. All firms were busy last night, but they expect to be much busier tonight and tomorrow. Perhaps their biggest rush period will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow, for three trains are due from Christchurch before 7 o'clock.
