PATRIOTIC FUNDS
Transfer Completed NOW ONLY ONE COUNCIL The Otago Provincial Patriotic Council will , take over welfare work in respect to men of the 1939-45 war from the first of this month. This decision was made at the meeting of the council yesterday, when a request was received from the New Zealand Patriotic Fund Board. It means that the council will take over the funds, furniture, files and records of the Otago Patriotic and General Welfare Association. the Outram Patriotic Fund and the North Otago Soldieris’ Aid Association. , - , , The secretary of the fund board advised that there was still some doubt about applications from those who enlisted in districts which were not transferring their funds. He would advise the council when any finality had been reached by the fund board in this respect. Mr A. L. Stenhouse, of Dunedin, was appointed secretary of the Welfare Committee. Mr Stenhouse is 35 years old and served five years overseas, gaining commissioned rank. He has had wide commercial experience. It was decided that the Tuapeka zone be requested to appoint a representative in the place of the late Mr J. Bennetts.
