SMUGGLED ARMS
LARGE SHIPMENT SEIZED IN SIAM NZPA—Copyright
Rec. 9 p.m. BANGKOK, Jan. 31. Ten thousand Colt revolvers, which were being smuggled into Siam for the Chinese Communist underground, were seized by the authorities last night on a Bangkok river wharf. The revolvers were recovered from cases shipped to Bangkok from Hongkong. The majority of the cases had been passed by Customs inspectors for removal from the wharf when an official smashed one of them open. New revolvers in factory packings tumbled out. It is learned from authoritative sources in Bangkok that the consign? ees were a group of prominent Bangkok merchants, most ot whom are reported to have fled the city.
