Mr W. H. Fortune, Minister without portfolio, is to be Minister in Charge of Police. This was announced by the Prime Minister, Mr Holland, at the conclusion of a Cabinet meeting last night.
Mr F. W. Doidge, Minister of External Affairs, will return to Auckland by air on Tuesday morning after representing New Zealand at the Conference of Commonwealth Foreign Ministers in Ceylon. He will return to Wellington on Wednesday.
Mr H. B. Bach has been appointed a member of the Town Planning Board to replace the late Mr F. W. Furkert. Professor D. B. Copland, vice-chan-cellor of the Australian National University, and formerly Australian Minister in China, left Dunedin yesterday for Christchurch.
