TITLES CHANGE HANDS
LAWN TENNIS TOURNAMENT WOMEN’S AND MIXED DOUBLES 4 PA CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 29. Two titles, the Wqmen’s Doubles and the Mixed Doubles, changed hands when the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Championships were completed today. The Women’s Doubles title was won bv Misses M. Beverley (Waikato) and M. Robertson (Otago), who beat Mrs I. Hatherley and Miss T. Poole (Canterbury). The Mixed Doubles championship was won by R. S. McKenzie (Wellington) and Miss B. Potter (Auckland), who beat O. M. Bold (Hutt Valley) and Miss Beverley. The previous title holders w'ere R. G. Pattinson and Mrs K. Hart (Canterbury). McKenzie and Miss J. MacGibbon (Canterbury) retained their Men’s and Women’s Singles titles, and J. E. Robson (Otago) and McKenzie again won the Men’s Doubles title. Results:—
Men’s Singles.—Final: R. S. McKenzie (Wellington) beat O. M. Bold (Hutt Valley), 6—4, 6—o, 6—2. Women’s Singles.—Final: Miss J. Mac Gibbon (Canterbury) beat Miss M. Beverley (Waikato), 10—8, 6—4. Men’s Doubles.—Semi-final: R. S. McKenzie (Wellington) and J. E. Robson (Otago) beat O. M. Bold (Hutt Valley) and M. Otway (Auckland), 75, B—6, 4—6, 11—9. Final: Robson and McKenzie beat J. A. Barry and A. S. Burns (Auckland), 6—3, 6—3, 8—
Women’s Doubles. —Final: Misses M. Beverley (Waikato) and M. Robertson (Otago) beat Mrs I. Hatherley and Miss T. Poole (Canterbury), 7—5, 6 —2. Mixed Doubles.—Semi-finals: O. M. Bold (Hutt Valley) and Miss M. Beverley (Waikato) beat J. E. Robson and Miss M. Kerr (Otago), 3 —6, 6 —2, 6—3. R. S. McKenzie (Wellington) and Miss B. Potter (Auckland) beat R. G. Pattinson and Mrs K. Hart (Canterbury), 6 —2, 6—2. Final: McKenzie and Miss Potter beat Bold and Miss Beverley, 6 —4, 3—6, 9—7.
