Russia Returns Ice-breaker To America
NZPA—Copyright Rec. 9 p.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 28. The State Department announced today that the Soviet Union had returned one of three United States icebreakers secured by the Soviet under Lend-Lease during the war. The icebreaker Southwind was sailed into the Japanese port of Yukosuka by the Soviet Navy yesterday. The United States Navy repqrted that the Southwind was in a satisfactory condition. The two other icebreakers which the Soviet Government originally promised to return to Bremerhaven before December 1, have not ben returned. The Soviet Embassy said last month that the two ice-breakers were caught in the east Arctic ice and could not be returned' until next spring or summer.
