A SATISFACTORY POSITION s , , ;■ CITY HAS FINE RECORD "Ratepayers in Dunedin are keenly alive to their responsibilities,” stated Mr J. A. Aitcheson. the city treasurer, yesterday, when commenting on the -,-i satisfactory manner in which the rate demands were being met. ‘‘By the time the date for the imposition of the penalty charge is reached, that is, January 12, the payments received should be on a par with those of last year, when the amount received was 98 per cent, of the total struck.” The total rate levied for the year ending March 31. 1950. is £483,658, and to December 28 the amount paid was £324,993, or 67.2 per cent, of the total. , This compares favourably with the position as it stood at the same time last year, when the total rate was £446,560. and £316.808, or 70.9 per *ent., was collected. “Dunedin ratepayers have a record t>r payment that any other city in the dominion would find it hard to fetter,” Mr Aitchesonjgaid. “By the ‘•-'A end of
