HUTT VALLEY RETAINS HAWKE CUP

Hutt Valley retained the Hawke Cup by beating Waikato by 166 runs on the first innings- With the issue beyond doubt, today’s play saw some very free batting, a feature being a century in 55 minutes by N. McMahon (Waikato), who hit eight 6’s and 12 4's in his 111. Scores: —Hutt Valley 366 and 229 for one, declared (A. Nightingale 105 not out, J. R. Capstick 101 not out). Waikato 201 and 161 for one (McMahon 111, Petrie 37 not out).
