HEAT WAVE GRIPS INLAND NEW SOUTH WALES
Rec. 9.28 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 28. Though Sydney has been saved extremely hot conditions by a southerly which sprang up this morning, inland New South Wales swelters in the grip of a heat wave. At noon the Ivanhoe temperature passed 109 degrees, and Bourlse at 10 a.m. registered 107. Other high temperatures include Brewarrina 112 degrees, Cargelligo and -Whitecliffs 111, Nyngan 110, and many over the century. Water is being rationed in many outback towns, and patrols are alert to the imminent danger of bushfires.
