PROMINENT EDUCATIONIST
DEATH OF MR T. U. WELLS
PA AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. Mr Tom Umfrey Wells, a prominent figure in the development of education in New Zealand, died today at his home in Remuera, aged 83. A fortnight ago he was honoured at a dinner by 24 of his former pupils—all 72 years old or over. Mr Wells was headmaster at various primary schools jn the Auckland province and a former president of both the Auckland and New Zealand Educational Institutes and the Auckland Education Board. Mr Wells is survived *v »<>?* . • •' two daughters.
