TAXI FIRMS RUSHED
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS FRIDAY BUSIEST PERIOD While the majority of people in Dunedin enjoyed holidays during the week-end, taxi drivers had one of their busiest periods of the year. Most- of the firms ‘in the city had full fleets operating from Friday to Sunday, and one manager said that it was the busiest Christmas he had experienced. All Dunedin taxi firms agreed that Fridav was the hardest day, but Saturday had also kept them working at full pressure. One of the largest firms in Dunedin had its full fleet operating on Friday and could not cope with the work offering. Taxis travelled thousands of miles and carried many hundreds of people.
