SPILLS AT WINGATUI

PROMINENT TRAINER IN HOSPITAL TOTALISATOR DECREASE N. A. Crombie, rider of The Hob in the Publican's Handicap, stated that his horse slipped and nearly came down on his nose in the stalls at the start of the race, and at no part of the race could he handle the going. Victory Star and Correct Change both fell in the Berwick Handicap because of the slippery going, there being no interference. G. W. Wright, rider of Correct Change, suffered slight bruises. Three horses fell during the running of the fist division of the Trial Handicap. Passing the five-furlong post, Hobgoblin (R. W. Shaw) slipped and fell and Bonny Chase (B. McLaren) bumped into him and also fell. Just past the three Redlo (A. E. Didham) slipped and fell, and Royal China struck Didham when he was on the ground. There was no interference in either case, the falls being due to the greasy going. Didham, a prominent Wingatui trainer, was taken to hoSbital for observation with possible internal injuries. Neither of the other riders was injured.

Sea Power (S. G. Shaw), Air Ace ,(R. G. Hollamby), and Jump Off (W. Turnstall) all fell during the running of the Warrington Hurdles. Shaw received abrasions, Hollamby ankle injuries, and Turnstall injuries to a foot. ' Hollamby and Turnstall were taken to hospital to be X-rayed.

E. A. Winsloe, rider of Vanity King in the hurdles, broke a stirrup leather soon after the start of the race. After an examination the leather was found to have been in good order when the rider was weighed out. The gate takings amounted to. £1420, compared with £1499 on the first day last year. The totalisator handled £65,496, compared with £68,936 on the corresponding day last year. Results:— WARRINGTON HURDLES, Of £4OO. One mile and three-quarters. 1/I—Moonlit, Mr D. H.
