DROWNED IN SURF
NAPIER, Dec. 26.
Richard Skelton, aged 16, was drowned at Napier this afternoon. Noticing a lad in difficulties a young couple entered the strong surf and brought the boy ashore but the woman got into difficulties and the man went to her assistance. Meanwhile a wave swept the boy back into the sea and he was dead when brought out the second time.
