SHOPS DAMAGED BY FIRE
PA NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 26. Damage estimated at between £2OOO and £3OOO was caused early on Saturday morning when the rear portion and part of the dining rooms' of a fish shop at Waitara were gutted by fire. Occupying part of the same building but partitioned off by wallboard, the entire stock of a stationery and fancy goods shop and lending library was ruined. The cause of the outbreak is unknown, but is thought to be a defect in an electric heater.
