The Paris correspondent of the Associated Press says a Marshall Plan survey showed that Britain, with its stiffest and most persistent of rationing systems, had a food consumption of 99 per cent, of the level before the war. Only Ireland, with 102, and Belgium, with 100 per cent., wgre'ahead. Both these’ countries had abolished rationing, but the survey added that Britain’s diet included high calory foods like bread and potatoes instead of the more nourishing items, especially meat and fats.
