HEARING SUSPENDED
Basic Wage Increase In Victoria ELECTION CONTROVERSY NZPA—Copyright 4ELBOURNE, Nov. 15. Arbitration Court judges have refused to reconsider their decision to suspend the hearing of the application by unions for a basic wage of £lO a week. A swift move to have the hearing continued was made by the unions as soon as the Trades Hall learned of the court decision to adlourn. The judges were interviewed in Chambers by the secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions. Mr R. R. Broadby. The judges said tnat they had considered all aspects of the situation created by political statements made so far affecting the case, and thought that as the issues to dc determined by them had been brought into the political arena it would be improper tor the same issues to be simultaneously debated before them. The case would not be continued while the issues remained the subject of an election controversy.
