Czech Catholic Bishops Order Priests To Obey Government Control Law
Rec. 0.45 a.m. PRAGUE. Oct. 25. Czechoslovakian Roman Catholic bishops have told their priests to accept salaries from the Communist-led Government and swear loyalty to it to stay out of prison. The bishops said they still “ regretted ” the recent enactment of the Government’s church control law as a violation of church rights, but were allowing their priests to comply with it to avoid arrest and prosecution.
