" TRIBUTE TO PRESS b - PROMOTION OF CIVIC PRIDE “The photograph of the results of vandalism at the St. Clair Baths published in the Otago Daily Times gives a clear indication of the damage,” said the chairman of the General Committee of the Dunedin City Council, Cr Smith at the meeting of the council last night. “We are indebted to the -•> press of Dunedin for its efforts to reduce vandalism in this city and its endeavour to promote civic pride in Dunedin.”, ’ . Cr Smith said that he felt that a large number of people in Dunedin Saw vandalism taking place, but did nothing about it. They did not realise that the damage caused by vandals was paid for by all the ratepayers. The damage at the baths pavilion at <•* St Clair would cost about £2OO as a result of the replacement of the tile roof by a metal one. Cr Smith said that a large number of honorary rangers had been appointed in Dunedin, and this should have an effect in reducing vandalism,
