Citizens’ Association
An invitation for members to be present at the-showing of a series cf films by National Airways Corporation and addresses by members on November 9 was received at the monthly meeting of the North Oartaru Citizens’ Association last night. Mr W. E. Laney was in the chair.
The Oamaru Borough Council advised that the association’s request for an additional street light in Conway street could not be granted. It was decided again to draw the council’s attention to the unsatisfactory position of the lights m this street.
The council also intimated that the application for a light to be installed in the new bus shelter between Foyle and Lynn streets had been referred to Cr H. R. Wise for report. It was decided to install a light provided the council agreed to its being connected to the street circuits. The Eveline Association Football Club wrote thanking the association for its contribution to the club’s funds. ’We hope that in the near future we shall have a playing area in the north end," the letter stated. „ ... . Mr J. A. Johnston asked if the Waitaki County Council intended to gravel the roads now being graded at the North End and Mr Laney said the council proposed to do this. . It was very gratifying to see the work being done as it was long overdue. Mr Laney said. Mr S. Holloway reported that a meeting of bodies interested in the Eveline Centennial Hall had decided to endeavour to have gas installed by next winter to heat the hall.
