Wild Gun Battle In Heart Of Hollywood
NZPA—Copyright NEW YORK, Oct. 14. Three bandits killed a shop assistant during a wild gun battle with 50 police in the heart of Hollywood to-day. Pedestrians on the famous Hollywood Boulevard ran for cover as the police exchanged shots with the bandits, entrenched behind pillars in a shoe store. In the 10 minutes before they surrendered, the three men had held up a store in broad daylight. The salesmen were ordered to lie down on the floor. Two who tried to escape were shot, one being killed and the other injured.
