ORANGES NEXT WEEK

SUPPLIES OF LEMONS GLUT OF CAULIFLOWER Supplies of Sturmer and Delicious apples reached the,marts during the week, large sizes being keenly sought alter. Prices for Poorman oranges again firmed and only a small quantity was available. New Zealand oranges are also bringing high prices. Values for passion fruit and tree tomatoes were also higher than those ruling the previous week. Ample quantities of lemons came to hand during the week. Cucumbers and asparagus are still selling well, but prices are easier. Hothouse tomatoes are much more plentiful and there has been an, appreciable easing in price. A shipment of Australian oranges will come to hand early next week, but there is no information available locally about the 1 quantity. Many varieties of vegetables were in heavy supply throughout the week, particularly cauliflower, and low prices had to be accepted to clear. There has been a fair demand for leeks, spring onions, silver beet and beetroot, which have been in good supply. There was brisk bidding for the limited quantities of green peas from Waimate, the ruling rate being 2s per lb.
