Death Sentences Sought In Hungarian Trials
LONDON, Oct. 12. The Budapest correspondent of the United Press says that death sentences for all those charged in the recent Laszlo Rajk trials were demanded by the prosecutor when their appeals were heard in a surprise session in Budapest to-day. The appeals were heard in the same courtroom in which Cardinal Mindszenty’s trial was held. The defence lawyers pleaded for clemency for Raik, Dr Bitor Szony and Andras Szalai. who were sentenced to death. They asked for reduced sentences in the cases of the other accused,
The hearing was adjourned until Friday, when the verdicts will be pronounced. , >
