Amethyst Feted During Suez Canal Passage
NZPA—Copyright Rec. 11 pm. LONDON, Oct. 13. Reuters Cairo correspondent says Royal Air Force fighters to-day escorted the British frigate Amethyst along the Suez Canal towards the Mediterranean on her homeward journey after escaping down the Yangtse. Cheering troops lined the canal banks, Spitfires dipped low in salute, and Dakotas ana Mosquitoes made a special fly past.
