Rec. 11 p.m. BERLIN, Sept. 26. Immediately after the revelation that they have the atomic secret, the Russians have begun demanding the recruitment of many thousands more Germans to work in uranium mines, says the Berlin correspondent of, the Daily Mail. An order to the German authorities of the Mecklenburg province at the week-end says that 20,000 workers must be found before the end of the year for transportation to the Aue district of Saxony, a well-known centre of uranium deposits. To step up “ recruiting,” the Mecklenburg authorities have been told that they may send husbands and wives or engaged couples to work in the mines.
The Prague correspondent of the Associated Press says a new uranium mine has been opened at Mniesk, about 25 miles south of Prague, under the direction of Russian' engineers. The diggings are the third on Czechoslovak soil known to be' producing atomic metal.
