ANXIOUS MOMENTS

BREEDER’S PROBLEM THIRTEEN BULLDOG PUPS CANINE ASSISTANCE SOUGHT When a three-year-old pedigree bulldog bitch belonging to Mr J. Ke«n, of the Wandsworth Kennels, Brighton road, gave birth to a pup on Sunday night little more than passing interest •was taken by the breeder. By daylight yesterday there were three more new arrivals, out as litters of seven or eight are common in this breed there was still no cause for concern. Late in the afternoon, however, the total had increased to 11, although one of the pups died and another was born dead. As the family was expected to have yet two further additions, the breeder thought that some assistance in mothering would be necessary, and an urgent SOS was sent out by Station 4ZB. Replies were soon fprthcoming, and two suitable bulldog bitches from the Ravensbourne area were selected. The foster-mothers are not likely to be called upon until this morning, as the two expected pups had not arrived at a late hour last night. The nine young pups are meanwhile tucked up in a box by the fire, and, although the first meal may be some way off, their constitution • is apparently sounds for the veterinarian “ m attendance ” said, last night that with the extra help of the foster-mothers all should now live.
