Ackland-Horman, of South Australia, vesterday won the Australian Amateur Golf Championship by beating W Edgar, of Victoria, at the thirtyeighth hole on the Royal Sydney Golf Club’s course. Rain fell throughout the match, which developed into a grim struggle. , _ .. Some fine golf was seen in spite of the atrocious conditions. Edgar was 1 up at the end of the first 18 holes. Dr AcklandHorman failed to end the match at the thirty-seventh, when he missed a threefoot putt, but victory came at the next hole when he sank a seven-footer. The ball hung on the back of the cup for a fraction of a second before falling in. , The surprise of the championship was the elimination in the fourth round of the title holder, D. Bachli, of Victoria, and the runner-up, P. Heard, of New South Wales. In the third round Bachli was m brilliant form, with 29 for the first nine holes, six under par.
