Spectacular Fire In The Heart Of Sydney

Rec. 9 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 22. A spectacular fire on the eigth floor of Albert Buildings in Central Sydney resulted in injuries to seven people and caused hundreds of employees to stampede to safety. The fire, which is believed to have broken out in a photographic studio, sent columns of black smoke into the air. Large crowds in the streets and on the rooftops of adjacent buildings hampered the work of firemen. Two men cut off in a workroom sustained cuts when they dived through a window into a corridor. Brigades from five stations brought the fire under control within an hour.
