SEPTEMBER 24 ACCEPTED BY CANTERBURY Advice was received by the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union last night that the Canterbury Union accepted September 24 as the date for the Payne Trophy match between the senior competition winners of the two cities at Dunedin. It was decided to place the names of two senior players on the cautioned list after a letter had been received from Mr R. Marshall, the referee of the game between Alhambra and Kaikorai on August 6, stating that he had cautioned two players who had persistently questioned his rulings. Mr D. A. Palmer was appointed manager of the Otago junior representative team to play Southland at Invercargill on September 10. Mr W. Hay (Third Grade) and Mr M. J. Nelson (Fourth Grade) were appointed managers of the junior teams to play at Balclutha on September 3. The Dunedin senior team was granted permission to play the Celtic Club at Timaru on Saturday for the Collins Cup, and Mr A. Manian was appointed manager.
