Blue Bird To Reappear
Mr Donald Campbell, 28-year-old son of the late Sir Malcolm Campbell, is to make an attempt on the world water speed record in his father’s speedboat Blue Bird. The boat, a single-seater hydroplane, is the original, though somewhat modified, craft used by Sir Malcolm in 1939 to establish the record of 141.7 m.p.h. In 1947 the boat was converted into a “ jet,” but is now back to its old form with a Rolls-Royce Schneider Trophy engine.
