OTAGO PLACE NAMES
Sir,—About 60 years ago I did some little exploration work round about Milford Sound and while discussing it with a gentleman recently he posed the question. “Who was the Welshman who gave Welsh names to several fea t u , r . es a P°m the sound, such as Cleddau Valley? Is there anyone who can supply the answer? I suggested Sutherland. “ the Hermit, might have been responsible, but I was assured that the names had been bestowed before Sutherland’s time.—l am, etc. Kenneth Ross. Wellington.
