Mrs A. C. Begg. of Waimate, is the guest of Mrs James Begg. Roslyn. Mr and Mrs John Moffett have returned from Wellington. Mrs James Lenihan, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs Charles Kerr, St. Clair Miss Ellice Brickell is the guest of Mrs R. H. Stevenson, Alton avenue. Mrs R. C. B. Greenslade left yesterday on a visit to Christchurch.

Mrs K R. Mason, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs Charles Reid has returned to Wellington. Visitors to Dunedin for the Mooney— Vernon wedding include Mrs J. C. Mowat (Roxburgh), Mrs T. B. Mooney (Clyde) and Miss Rae Vernon (Masterton).

Advice has been received by her mother that Miss Valmai Stodart, of Maia who is training at the Wellington Hospital, has passed her State preliminary examination. The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Churches, Otago branch, has arranged a quiet day in St. John’s Church, Roslyn, to-morrow, when all women are invited to meet for worship and meditation.

At a meeting held in the National Party Centre, former pupils of the Rangi-Rum School, Christchurch, decided to form a Dunedin branch of their Old Girls' -Association, and to start their activities with an afternoon gathering, to be held in the near future. Officers elected were: Chairman, Mrs D. A. Dick; vice-chair-man, Mrs H. A. Stevely; secretary, Mrs D. S. Anderson; committee—Misses J. Allan and J. Douglas.

The Dunedin Girl Guides' Association fair, to be held in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, on Friday evening of this week, will be officially opened by the Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron, at 7 o’clock. Well-stocked stalls, sideshows, novelties and an entertainment will be features of the fair. The proceeds will help with Girl Guide camping in Dunedin and with general expansion in the Guide movement.

On Saturday, Miss A. Lillie gave a talk on Robert Browning, at the monthly) social afternoon of the Women’s Theosophical Association. The half-hour of music was presented by Mrs D. Barkman, and consisted of songs by Miss Clione Gamble, recitations by Miss Paul, and violin solos by Mr Mervyn Jarvis. The president, Miss E. Barnett, announced the visit to Dunedin this month of Miss Mary Graham, who will speak on work done in art by some modern Indian women.

A happy function recently took place at John McGlashan College, when members of the Board of Governors and their wives and the college staff and their wives bade farewell to Mrs D. J. Thompson, who has resigned her position as secretary, and is to be married Mr A C. Cameron, chairman of the board expressed appreciation of Mrs Thompson's work for the college and presented her with a tea set from the members of the board. Trump whist was played and supper was served. Previous presentations to Mrs Thompson had been made by boys of the college and by the staff.
