TWO MEN CHARGED
BREAKING AND ENTERING ALLEGED REMANDED IN CUSTODY William Ernest Hill, a labourer, aged 26, and Alexander McLean, a seaman, aged 20, appeared before Mr J. D. Willis, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning charged with breaking and entering the warehouse of Briscoe and Co., Ltd., on May 30 last. It was stated by Chief Detective Hall that the accused had taken a number of articles from the warehouse in which they had done a great deal of damage. He asked for a remand until June 9, which was granted. Hill, who pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness, was convicted. Ball Allowed James Albert Williams, a labourer, aged 48, whom the chief detective described as “ something of a bird of passage,” was remanded until June 8 on a charge of disobedience of a maintenance order. He was granted bail in his own recognisance of £25, and one surety of £25. The accused was represented by Mr W. A. McAlevey.
