AUSTRALIAN BOXER
CONTESTS IN DUNEDIN MATCHED WITH lAN CRUICKSHANIC Bernie Hall, the Australian light-weight boxer, will arrive in Wellington next Monday and will reach Dunedin on the following Wednesday to fulfil his contract for three contests under the auspices of the Otago Boxing Association. The Australian, who will probably fight in New Zealand as a welter-weight, will stay at the Rugby Hotel and will train at the Otago Boxing Association gymnasium, His first contest will be against lan Cruckshank. the former New Zealand welter-weight champion, who has been signed up for a match over 12 threeminute rounds at the Town Hall on June 20 The purse is £2OO. In his last contest Hall, fighting at 9.125, defeated Jackie Wilson (9.12) by a technical knockout in the fourth round. Hall had all the better of the contest, Wilson being down twice in the second round. It was a convincing win as Wilson has a good record. . The opponents for Hall’s other two bouts in Dunedin have not yet been chosen, but it is possible that Doug Godward and Clarrle Gordon will be considered. Three Australian welter-weights are at present in the North Island on a free-lance basis, and their claims may also be given consideration.
