THE RAINS CAME
FALL IN TOWN AND COUNTRY BENEFIT TO THE LAND After a long period of fine weather, including more than a week without wind, the rains came to Dunedin on Saturday evening and the weather was still wet last night. The rainfall was not confined to the coastal area, however. A beneficial fall was reported from Alexandra last night. Prospects had been for a low level at the Manorburn dam before the beginning of the irrigation season, but the rain will improve the storage. The drizzle stopped at mid-day, and last night was fine although the sky was heavy. At Tapanui, the Pomahaka River was high last night butt there was considered to be no danger of flooding. A misty rain had been experienced in this area during the latter part of the week, and the countryside will benefit. Last night, a light drizzle was falling.
