Mediocre May Win Again
Mediocre, winner of the Gisborne Steeplechase last week, will come in for strong support in the Members’ Steeples on the final day of the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s meeting at Gisborne to-day. Most of the horses 1 raced last week are in similar events to-day and form should provide a reliable guide. The following horses may race well:—
11.15: Hexton Hurdles.—Gentleman Joe, Little Duke, The Scotchman. 12.0: Riverside Hack Handicap.—Pirelio, Motoka, Sinatra 12.45: Roseland Trial Stakes—Jovado, Gold Circuit, Theiolett. 1.30: Gisborne Handicap.—Marcia, Tilting. Merry Bing. 2.15: Members’ Steeplechase.—Mediocre, Magnus Lux, Rere Tere. 3.0: Roseland Trial Stakes No. 2.—A11 Dark, Golden Rye Lambeth. 3.45: Repongaere Hack Handicap.—Running Rein, Brown Boy, Johannes. 4.30: Farewell Hack Handicap.—Run Bahadur, On Probation, Phanion.
The'first Perth Easter Cup, run in 1915, was worth £2OO. The stake this season was £2750.
Among the recent winners at Perth was the former New Zealand pacer Bulldozer.
