WAITAKI COUNTY
MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL Mr J. S. Adams was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Waitaki County Council yesterday. There were also present Cl's A. H. McKinnon, FI. N. Paterson, D. H. Scott, M. Francis, W. M. Cooper, W. J. Gillies, and W. Muldrew. The Trotter’s Creek Domain Board advised that it could get the required levelling work done for £2B, and asked whether the council would pay that amount in lieu of doing the work with its own plant.—lt was agreed to contribute £l4 towards the cost of the work. Mr James Rodman, Oamaru, was appointed an assessor to act on any assessment courts that might be necessary to hear objections to valuations of the county. The Ministry of Works wrote approving of the acceptance of Messrs J. Mulligan and Sons’ tender of £736 13s 6d for the formation and metalling of the second section of Seven Mile road.—Received. A grant of £5 was made to the Hampden RSA to assist in putting the Hampden War Memorial in order. Fifteen building permits to the value of £9223 were issued. In accordance with notice given, Cr Paterson moved that the resolution passed at the last meeting, that the council scarify two miles of the Beach road, starting at the borough boundary, and that tenders be called for the gravel necessary to cover that portion, be .rescinded. —It was reported that this portion of the road had been graded successfully, and the previous resoluton was rescinded, Cr Cooper being the only dissentient.
