COMMUNITY SING
On Friday next the 1949 season of the Community Sing will be opened in the Strand Theatre at noon by the Mayor, Sir Donald Cameron. Proceeds are for the food for Britain campaign, and donations can be sent to Mr J. F. Himburg, care Charles Begg and Co., Ltd. A special attraction will be the Melloteens, under the direction of Mrs Avis Macfarlane, in vocal numbers. The leader will be Mr H. P. Desmoulins, and the pianist .Mr A. H Pettitt. Two Great Dane pups, two months old, male and female, will be sold.
